POSTPARTUM SERVICES

Support and honour for your baby and your soul.

The International Childbirth Education Association describes the role of a doula as “mothering the mother.”

I provide non-medical support in the first few days, weeks and months following the birth of your baby. Offering compassionate non-judgemental space for birthing people and families to feel supported informed and confident while they transition to their new role as parents. While I do help with infant care, my primary focus is on the birthing person.

Postpartum Support

What does a postpartum doula do?

The question might better be posed: What doesn’t a postpartum doula do?

What one doula does for one new parent may differ from what they do for another. At the most basic level, postpartum doulas can provide support and information about infant feeding practices — like breastfeeding or bottle feeding — as well as tips and tricks for calming your newborn identifying baby’s cues and dealing with all those new parenting responsibilities.

I support your physical and emotional recovery during the fourth trimester. If you need extra help in these areas, I am a great resource for finding the right places to get what you need.

Support includes:

  • Breastfeeding support/ Latch and positioning help

  • Understanding your babies’ cues

  • Bathing and diapering

  • Making meals

  • Light housework (tidying, vacuuming, etc.)

  • Promoting self-care

  • Advocating for the birthing person

  • Providing evidence-based information on all things newborn/postpartum

  • Referring to additional support in all topics baby/mom

  • Sleep solutions

  • Screening for Postpartum Depression

  • Helping siblings adjust

Postpartum doulas don’t do things like offer medical advice, provide medical care, or speak for the family on any medical matters. Instead, the doula provides the information, resources, and support. If they can’t help you, they can help you find someone who can.

Your Investment is $30/hr, with a 3-hour minimum visit. Overnight support is $40/hr.

Compassionate space for families to feel supported and confident while they transition to parenthood.
